The Story of Xanthus

The only Horse to be granted Human Speach.

In Greek mythology, there were two immortal horses, Balius and Xanthus, the offspring of the harpy Podarge and the West wind. When Xanthus was rebuked by the grieving Achilles for allowing his comrad Patroclus to be slain, Hera granted Xanthus human speech which broke Divine law, saying that a god had killed Patroclus, and that a god would soon kill Achilles too.

After this, the Erinyes struck the horse dumb.

50% from each print of Xanthos sold will go to a wine country horse rescue, to help horses who have been abused and neglected and have no voice.
